Spore Syringe Step-By-Step Directions

1. First, sterilize water and the shot glass/small dish. Place in a pressure cooker and heat until it reaches 15psi. Once the pressure is reached, lower the temperature and cook for 30 minutes. 2. Turn off the heat after 30 minutes and let the water cool to room temperature. This is very important. If you proceed while the water is hot, you risk killing the spores. Your equipment can be as sterile as you’d want, but if you cook the spores, everything is pointless. 

It will completely cool in a few hours, but it’s recommended that you let it sit overnight. Remember to leave it sealed! If you open it before using the equipment, it will become contaminated. 

3. Now, you are all set to make the spore syringes. Use a flame to sterilize the tweezers and scalpel.

4. Remove the shot glass from the pressure cooker.

5. With tweezers, remove the spore print from the storage and hold it over the opening of the shot glass. 

6. With a scalpel, scrape some spores into the water, paying extra attention. 

7. You need to fill your syringes instantly. For that, place the tip of the first syringe into the water to fill it up. Then, empty the syringe back into the shot glass and repeat this process a few times. It will ensure a good spread of spores throughout the water. Do this when you add more spores.

8. As you have a filled syringe, leave it at room temperature for 2–3 days for the spores to fully hydrate.

9. Once hydrated, store your spore syringes in an airtight ziplock bag in the refrigerator to remain viable for up to 12 months.
