Equally important Rich Gee is the first person who isolated/created Penis Envy and introduced it to the public in the late 1970’s. Penis Envy’s first appeared in a 1977 book written by Jule Stevens & Rich Gee titled “How To Grow & Identify Psilocybin Mushrooms”.

Rich Gee had also written another book titled “Cubensis Aquarium Garden“.

This book has proven to be impossible to obtain a physical copy of at the time of this writing in 2022; however, John Allen does own one copy that Hamilton Morris has held & viewed. The cover shows what appears to be an early penis envy grow in a glass aquarium. On top of the fact that Rich Gee gave an Interview where he names Homestead Book Company as his competitor, Homestead Book Company sold.

Habitat: Bovine and Equine Dung and Enriched Soils.

Climate: Subtropical in addition.

Cap: 25-65 mm in diameter and convex to broadly convex to plane at maturity. Furthermore white flesh maturing to light blue and very dark blue at maturity. Flesh white soon after bruising blue. 

Stem: 5-35 mm in length and white flesh bruising blue with a light green undertone where injured too. Lastly occasional membranous annulus (ring) from partial veil that becomes dusted with translucent spores at maturity. Moreover not all Ghost fruit bodies have veil remnants.

Gills: Attachment adnate to adnexed. Psilocybe Ghost spore swabs Opalescent white coloration in young fruit bodies becoming dark blue-green in maturity.

Spores: Translucent/Albino spores, 10 by 8 micrometres in size and subellipsoid on 4-spored basidia.

Strain Origin:

Psilocybe Ghost spore swabs is a variety named after its small stature, wavy caps, and white appearance. This variety is a mutation of “TAT” isolated by cultivator Jik Fibs. Ghost is well known for its small, dense, and uniquely potent fruits. Ghost is often compared to Albino Penis Envy due to the high potency and physical appearance.

Psilocybe cubensis is a pan-tropical species,⁴ and occur in the Gulf Coast states and southeastern United States, Mexico, in the Central American countries of Belize, Costa Rica, and Guatemala, the Caribbean countries Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Guadalupe, Martinique, and Trinidad, in the South American countries of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Paraguay, Uruguay and Peru, Southeast Asia,¹³ including Thailand,¹¹ Vietnam, Cambodia and Malaysia, India, Australia (including Tasmania). Furthermore The species was first described in 1906 as Stropharia cubensis by American mycologist Franklin Sumner Earle in Cuba. Creeper mushroom spores. In 1907, it was identified as Naematoloma caerulescens in Tonkin  by French pharmacist and mycologist Narcisse Théophile Patouillard. In 1941, it was called Stropharia cyanescens by William Alphonso Murrill near Gainesville in Florida.  Lastly German-born mycologist Rolf Singer moved the species into the genus Psilocybe in 1949, giving it the binomial name Psilocybe cubensis. The synonyms were later also assigned to the species Psilocybe cubensis.
